How to choose the appropriate inverter when the type of load and power are known?
First, the type of AC load, nominal power, power factor, and starting shock factor need to be determined. The maximum power of the load is then calculated according to the formula: load maximum power = (nominal power/power factor)*starting shock factor; load sustained power = nominal power/power factor, the sustained power of the load is calculated. Finally, it is sufficient to follow the principle that the continuous output power of the inverter should be greater than the continuous power equal to the load and that the overload power allowed by the inverter is greater than the maximum power of the load.
Example 1: 100W incandescent lamp, it is a resistive load, power factor 1, start shock factor is 1. Therefore, its maximum power is 100W, as long as the inverter power is greater than 100W can be.
Example 2: air conditioner (non-inverter), inductive load, power 735W, power factor 0.9, start shock factor is 5. then its maximum power = (735W/0.9)*5 = 4105VA; continuous working power = 735W/0.9 = 817VA. so the rated power of the inverter should be greater than 817W, the allowed overload power should be greater than 4105W to drive this air conditioner.
